I've struggled to find toys that are engaging, learning-based, and safe to leave with a toddler.
I have two littles - one who is a little more careful, never put things in her mouth, and enjoys all things learning. However, she gets very frustrated if she can't do a task on her own. Her brother, on the other hand, cannot fully be trusted not to put things in his mouth out of curiosity. He also loves to stick small things into outlets and small spaces. Finding independent quiet-time toys for my kiddos has been challenging, to say the least. I finally found some that really cater to both my kids and address my concerns.
LEGOS.
My son is now old enough to fully enjoy playing and creating with the Duplo LEGO sets for 2+ toddlers and my daughter loves to get the more complex designs and follows along with the instructions provided. My 3.5yo loves the Duplo sets also and often teaches her brother how to put them together. it ends up being a great time for connection and bonding between the two of them.
My son had such a great time with this set - he is all about firetrucks and other service professionals lately!
